WWJBD?

I've never been much of a TV watcher. All these shows that the whole world is into, I just plain don't watch and don't care to. I can't focus on them or I don't find them very engrossing/funny/entertaining and I usually end up walking around the house to see what else I can do, or I start reading a book while watching, or I just fall asleep or something. Grey's Anatomy, The Office, Scrubs, Lost, Survivor, Whatever Show Is Popular At The Moment...I've never seen them, except an episode here and there or snippets of scenes as my husband is flipping through channels. He doesn't watch these things either, by the way. He prefers to just flip through channels and watch Every Show At Once or college football games. Whichever, he isn't picky.

So when I had Sophia, my mom came down to Mesa to be with me and the girls since Joel was already here in Cedar starting his new job. Since I spent so much time sitting around nursing and all my books were packed up and it's hard to surf the internet while feeding a newborn, my mom decided to rent Season 1 of 24 for me so I had something to do. I watched it in the middle of the day and the middle of the night and sometimes I just held her while she was sleeping so I could finish an episode.

I was hooked. In the 2 weeks that we were down there without Joel we watched Seasons 1-4, and then I made Joel rent them all again once I moved up here. Then he was hooked. We were junkies. When the new season started we watched it every Monday night at his brother's house. It was horrible for the kids and their schedules, but I did mention we were addicted, right?

And then FOX took it away because of the silly writer's strike. Seriously, I couldn't have cared less if the Hollywood writers went on strike (struck?) before I knew about 24, but I was all kinds of upset about not getting my weekly Jack Bauer fix. However, the withdrawal symptoms slowly started to fade, and I almost forgot about it.

Until they had the special pre-season thing in November and it was awesome.

And then I was just waiting on pins and needles for Sunday night. And last night. This season is already amazing.

All I have to say is, Jack Bauer is back. Don't call me on Monday nights.

  1. I've never seen this show. The commercials for it do look interesting though!

  2. Mike and I are 24 junkies too. Last year I bought a couple of seasons and my parents lent us some of the others so we watched all of them and now are so excited to watch the new ones. Yes they are great, I think.

  4. I hear so many good things about this show. I've STILL never seen it. I don't watch much TV at all, but I am totally in love with LOST. MUST watch. I'm an addict too :)

  5. Maybe I'm going to have to try 24 one more time. We stopped watching about 2 or 3 episodes into season 3. We just couldn't stop laughing at it, and since laughter is not the intended response from viewers, we decided that meant we just weren't that into it.
Everybody's talking about how great it is though, so, we'll see.

  6. Lara, you crack me up. I would have NEVER pegged you as a 24 devotee. I am re-reading your profile as I am typing this...singer and voice teacher. Scrapbooker. I think you should also add "Jack Bauer's #1 Fan."

    Enjoy your Monday nights!

  7. That's funny. I was like that last year with Chuck. I was happy to see it this year, but we wait until Tuesday night when the kids are in bed and it's online (cause who wants to sit on the floor in the cold basement to watch a show?). Then I was upset when NBC didn't show their regular programs for a month or so. I think we still have . . . oh, wait. It might be available now. I'm going to check.

  10. I'm withholding judgement. It's been pretty good so far, but last season was terrible, and there have already been some eyerolling, same old tricks moments. I don't know how I feel about the Tony coming back to life explanation.

However, Jack is as hot as ever.

  11. I hate this show...seriously! OK, so I was addicted once upon a time as well. To the point that I would go back and read the minute by minute update on the website, sometimes even if I had already seen it. When they dropped the nuke on LA, Joey and I finally decided we could let go and haven't watched it since. It got to be too much for me that they had to kill a major character every week...have fun though, there is still a part of me that wishes to go back to that place because despite is all something about JB is just SEXY!

  13. Everyone keeps talking about 24 and I've never seen it. Maybe I'll have to rent season 1 now!

  14. Man, I've heard so many good things about 24 but never seen it. Possibly because any TV I do see is whatever DH is watching. Maybe if I suggest it to HIM . . .

  15. We started watching season 2. So when that was over we bought season 1 and were all caught up. I do have to agree with Kristina that the last season before the strike was not great. In fact, it sucked. BUt I think, after 4 hours now, that we're back on track with this one.

  16. OBVIOUSLY no one would call you because it's FHE that night. :)
Drew likes it, I haven't really watched it. Really, I need no other obsessions at this time...

  19. I am afraid to watch 24...no seriously, to me it just seems like the whole terrorism angle is too real, I can get that on the news.

I do feel the same way however about The Office and Survivor...dont' call us on Thrusdays, or Sundays, thats Amazing Race night.

  20. I've heard so much about this series, but I have to admit I have never watched it--not even once. The funny thing is that as time goes on and I hear more about it I'm afraid to start--I don't have time to love something that much! :-)

  21. Too funny! My husband is hooked as well. I've never seen it. I guess since I just got Netflix I can catch up! :0)

  22. I've never seen 24 but I'm going to start renting them. I did that with Lost over the summer, watched all the seasons to get caught up and was hooked! You should try that show!

  23. I have to watch this. I have to rent them. I know everyone who watches it loves it. Thanks!

  24. I've never seen this show either. But "House" is my addiction, but thanks to DVR, I can wait to watch it when it's more conveinant. I wouldn't have watched it on my own though. Chris was watching it once and I wandered in and was all, "Oh my gosh, Hugh Laurie? I didn't know he was on this." (I'm going to marry Hugh Laurie someday. lol Actually, in some parallel universe where I'm British and 10-15 years older, I AM married to him). I was hooked. Then Chris started not liking it anymore. Too bad. I was already hooked.

  25. My husband and I only watched 24 as a rental too and we totally raced through with adrenalin pumping! LOL

  26. Charlie and I just got addicted to Numb3rs, so I know how you feel! Netflix is loving us right now because we rented from Season 1 to 5...

  27. Oh how I love my shows. Problem is, I have no time to watch them. They just collect dust (and recording space on my DVR)

Every day I have to delete old stuff I never had time to watch to make room for new stuff I still won't have time to watch.

  28. Fifteen minutes into it my husband said, "This show has really gone downhill". I said, "give it time". Fifteen minutes after that I said, "Any better?" and he said, "Oh Yeah!!"

  29. I am with you, Lara! This is one of the only shows I DVR so I can watch it. I LOVE this season so far. What could be better than a female Jack Bauer-ish kick butt chick, another Chloe-ish computer genius, and cutie Tony back?!?!
