Sleepwalking

Las Vegas skyline

Yesterday I went to Vegas. In the end, I decided to take the whole family with me, and I'm so glad I did. It was a nice break from the norm and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Even though everything with the photoshoot didn't work out as planned (when do things ever work out exactly how they're supposed to?), we had lots of fun together.

Then we went to dinner with our friends and headed back up to Cedar. I was really happy Bria got to come because Mikelle was one of her best friends from Arizona and they still get along fabulously. Even if they were a little too excited to see each other in Applebee's.

Rolling into our driveway at nearly 1:00 am combined with the time change is killing me. Plus, Chloe woke up sick (eyes swollen shut and a horrid cough) this morning. Again. Which is even worse news, considering it's her birthday tomorrow!

So, today, I leave you with a picture of the Las Vegas strip taken from the temple grounds. (Can I just say how nice it was not to go anywhere near the strip?) I also leave you with a very important link. Annette Lyon is having a mega giveaway this week. You'd better go check it out because there is chocolate involved. And books. And perfume. And hairbows. And plenty of other great stuff.

And I'm going to go cuddle with Chloe and try to wake up.

Happy Tuesday!

  1. Great shot. How would it be to just decide to take the kids to Vegas for the day? Crazy. And neat.

  3. I love the Las Vegas Temple! I think it is so pretty! We went on our honey moon to Las Vegas and I hope to 1 day go to the National finals rodeo held in Las Vegas. We went last year to watch Bette Midler she put on a wonderful show but I had no idea she was so vulgar and crude. You know with songs like The Rose and Wind Beneath My Wings and shes so old! I got lost after the SHOW and ended up in the SHOW GIRLS dressing room after the show! Man did I ever get a show! POOR Spencer was with me and he did everything in his power to look at the floor the entire time we where in their dressing room! Needless to say we have not been back since! I was very pregnant at the time and naked show girls were touching and admiring my belly! Anyways an experience we will never forget!

  12. No, I'm not bitter that you were in Las Vegas and didn't even attempt to look me up. Not at ALL. The photo is beautiful. Did you know that houses right around the temple actually sell for LESS because it blocks the view of the strip? Yes, folks, that's the wholesome town I call home. (But we live as far away from the strip as possible without actually living in Reno, so it's not so bad for us.)

Glad you had a good time.

  15. Lol about them being too excited at Applebees. i'm just glad we don't live there and their excitement will be a blur in the memories of everyone there.

Sorry about the photoshoot stuff. I just have to keep telling myself: "I lvoe my husband. I love my husband. I love my husband." Of course I don't need to convince myself of that, but I have to keep telling myself that when it comes to mixing oil and water on our behaviors when it comes to the CLOCK, how TIME works, ROAD TRIPS, and the oxymoron word of the week: VACATION.

If it's any consolation, we got into Vegas at 2:30 yesterday afternoon. Of course it's a more direct route from LA to Vegas, and it helped that my sister's flight left at 3:35 so we had to bust our butts. but we got home from Vegas at 10:30pm, that's WITH stopping for Mexican food in Wickenberg. I just wish Monday would have gone better. I'm still cranky about that. Not your fault of course, but the person that I just LOVE. I LOVE him. I love him.

  16. Also LOLing at DeNae's comment. I'd buy a house there if it wasn't in...well, Vegas. The houses directly across the street from the temple are pretty nice.

As much as I loathe living in the Phoenix area, I have to tell myself that at least it's a pretty desert. Even though it's so much hotter. :-(
