Our new little pet

At some point, and usually around age 2-ish or 3-ish, all of my children decide to become animals. Bria was a cat named "Cat Buttercup Princess Baby that talks Spanish." Chloe was usually a dog, but could be found being a kitty every once in awhile, too. Nameless, though.

It would appear that Sophia has chosen to go the canine route. And she takes it all the way, insisting upon licking our faces as often as we let her (which is never) or as often as she can sneak it in.

Like, right after Chloe's Kindergarten program this last week.

Sophie's new licking obsession

Also, in the name of being a dog, she decided to go potty like one. She, who is completely potty trained and hasn't had an accident in weeks (I promise!) just pulled her pants down and went in the middle of the carpet. That is taking the whole dog thing way too far, if you ask me!

Little stinker.

  1. This really sounds good. I really have no decent recipe with rhubarb and I can't help but feel excited over this one. Thanks a lot.

  2. Oh. Perhaps you should have swatted her nose with a rolled up newspaper? Just kidding.

I think it's cute when use imaginary play like that. Until they piddle on the carpet. Good luck with that!

  6. My kids were animals around that age too, at least they never went as far as going potty like the animals do though!

  7. I'm chuckling a little over that first comment, as it is clearly in reference to something OTHER than a child going potty in the middle of the living room!

My oldest never did the animal thing, but he insisted on playing roles from favorite movies. For more than a year, I was "Grim" to his "Prince Eric" (the Little Mermaid was new when he was a toddler)

But I've known kids who took the animal thing so far they wouldn't answer in Primary; they'd bark or meow or something equally obnoxious. Licking big sister, though? That's full-on adorable!

  11. Oh wow! Going potty like a dog. Not fun! The licking. Emma did that. Yuck. She would lick grandma and grandpa they would get so grossed out but wouldn't ask her to stop. It took a while to get her to quit. Yuck, but cute at the same time. She sure is cute!!

  14. So funny love how they start to be facinated with animals. When my oldest was about 4 I caught her pooping in our back yard! She said "the dog does it"! Sheeeesh.

  15. That is funny!

Great pictured of the two of them!

Right now, my children wish to be Rhino the hamster from Bolt. They keep saying, "yoink!" and singing the songs he sang. Yikes!

  16. I guess I should have seen the end of this story coming, but I didn't! I just squirted water out my nose! Oh, my. Sorry about the ensuing mess, but it must have been hilarious until then!

Oh, and I love the elaborate name for Bria's animal-self. Too bad she didn't pretend to be a horse! She could have won the Kentucky Derby with a name like that!

  17. Yikes on the carpet staining! But such a cute photo that she is forgiven. Of course, that is very easy for me to say.
