Cramming

I have had more photoshoots to do since we decided to move than I ever have before. 5 down, 3 to go. I'm trying to use my time wisely between editing, packing and normal stuff like cleaning the house and grocery shopping. Sometimes I feel like I'm failing miserably, but it is what it is.

I have now packed around 20 boxes, had a yard sale and taken several loads to the DI and yet I'm shocked at all the stuff that is still in my house. Where did it come from? Why do I even need it?

Anyway, I apologize for this blog becoming nothing more than a place for me to freak out about moving. We have managed to buy a house, so that's a huge thing off my mind. We do keep running into little snags here and there with it, but I'm pretty confident everything will work out in the end. And at least we won't be homeless.

So, this post is really just about the fact I finished editing a shoot and I'm rambling in a major way.

Anyway...I finished editing a newborn shoot! Wanna see?

  1. The good about moving is filtering through all of the stuff you have. The bad about moving is seeing all of the stuff you have packed around for probably years.

Glad you found a place to live. That IS a huge burden lifted. And sometimes keeping busy with normal things is an ok distraction!

  3. So I heard that there are specific ways of photographing a newborn, but I don't know what they are. How do you do it?

  4. When I feel like I'm failing miserably at getting things done, I try to tell myself that getting even ONE thing done on my list is an accomplishment and that makes me feel a lot better! You're doing great, Lara!

  5. Beautiful photos, and congrats on the house!

Don't worry about the move freak-outs—and I am personally of the opinion that Stuff breeds. Especially Stuff that lives in basements—when you're not looking it multiplies nefariously, cackling madly all the while, until you have to beat it back with a machete just to keep your sanity! Wishing you all the best for conquering the Stuff Monster!

  6. So glad you found a house! We just found out that we were approved for our apartment and we start moving on the 22nd. I know the shocked "what is all this junk" kind of feeling!

Are you going to squeeze us in to your hectic photo schedule when your up? crossing fingers.

Yay for you! I usually don't start boxing until the week of a move. So overwhelming!

  9. You have got to be so stressed out right now! The pictures are beautiful. I need to get your book about the hymns back to you. Good luck continuing to de-clutter and pack!

  16. You can do it! Moving can be so cleansing...I envy you in that. ;) Endure the boxes crazy packing mode stuff as it will end soon enough and you'll be planted again somewhere amazing, that I'm sure of.

PS: Didn't realize you were in Cedar...as in Cedar City, UT, yes? My family has a cabin on Cedar Mnt, which is a second home to me and my favorite place on earth.

  17. we had a rule when moving, if you find an item you haven't seen or used in a year, it doesn't get packed. you obviously don't need it.

    good luck!

  19. Moving can certainly be a stress much less trying to live normally in between. I'm not looking forward to do all this packing later so I'm slowly doing it now for next year! See, I'm worst than you are about packing! LOL

  21. Lara you are so talented! Everyone wants to take advantage of that before you leave! How great to have a house to go to . . . .moving is so very painful. I find myself packing sloppily so that things actually break and I have an excuse to throw it out. I am always so disgusted with how much stuff we accumulate between moves! We are living in the smallest house we have lived in for a very long time and we have to go through and dejunk on a regular basis. It never ends!
