A Little Self-Indulgence...

...in the form of MORE PICTURES!  And a concert review! Aren't you so excited?  Someone else sent these new pictures to us, so I'm posting them here for your viewing pleasure.  Or not.  I guess I am just feeling a little bit self-conscious about posting so much of this, that's all.  It feels way too narcissistic for my comfort.

But I'm over it now.  It is my blog, after all, and this is what I have lived and breathed the last several weeks.

So, first the review.  This was done by a self-proclaimed "opera rookie" and is in the University's newspaper/news website.  Here is a link if you are so inclined to read it.  It is a somewhat humorous review, not dry and boring at all, although not very well edited.  (Oh, and it's the second article down.  Can't figure out how to link just the one article, sorry.)

Now for the pictures.

This is from the Verdi...the Ave Maria part at the end.

Joel talking to the audience.  Probably assuring them that he would not be killing me upon arriving at home (I sang both Desdemona and Carmen, women who were both murdered by their jealous lovers/husbands), or telling the story of how he was beaten up by gypsies in Romania.

Joel conducting.

Watching me come out for Habanera.

Habanera.

More Habanera.  "If I love you, beware of me!"

The end.

I promise this is the last of it.

And now back to regularly scheduled blogging.

Toodles!

  1. Okay... the picture of your husband watching you, yes? That is right beside the picture of Bria? Um, is it just me or do they look JUST alike in these pictures?

I'm so very thrilled for the experience you had. You have every right to post all about it all you want!!

  3. Yep, MommyJ is totally right.

Please keep sharing this stuff. And don't worry about being self-indulgent. What, exactly, about bloggins ISN'T self-indulgent? At least you didn't go and do something completely narcissistic, like beg for questions. (My answers will follow tomorrow, I promise!)

  4. Also . . . you look BEAUTIFUL! I always wished I could wear something besides concert black on stage. But that would require being a soloist, which I don't want to do. (Violist.) So instead I would love for the orchestra members to just get to go CRAZY and wear prom dresses and plaid tuxedos. Distracting, you say? Maybe. But it would make me happy. Although, I look fabulous in black. It makes me feel like the hottest person in the orchestra. Which, according to my liar of a husband, I am!

  5. Hey! That last picture can't be the end because all I see is a beautiful woman (in a gorgeous dress) singing? Where is the sterotypical 'fat woman' 'cause it sure isn't YOU!

And the conductor is a Hottie. You should definitely try and get a date with him (if his wife doesn't mind).

  19. Both Lara and Joel were amazing! I was there to hear it everyone! Lara sang with ease and with a glorious sound, plus she looked gorgeous, Joel, he was in his element, conducting, so every move he made was made with exactness. Plus, the benefit is watching him dance when he won't in real life. I hope you all get a chance to experience this very talented duo, Oh and the girls are coming up!! This will be interesting to see what all comes out of this family!!
