Okay. I'm ready.

I'm ready for spring now.

I am quite impressed that it's taken until the end of February for the winter blahs to set in.  It seems I usually have them by mid-January.  But I haven't been in hibernation yet this year, until maybe today.  (By the way, Chloe made it through the dentist, but it took all she had and she needed to come home and sleep instead of try to go to school like she was hoping.  She did have to go to a faculty meeting with Joel while I taught my lessons, but I was able to postpone my preschool volunteer hours to tomorrow and the branch canceled Visiting Teaching Conference tonight.  Too many sick kids, not enough people coming.  And, if you only have 9 or so sisters coming in the first place, and only 4 or 5 drop out, it's not worth having. So my schedule is much lighter than I thought earlier.  Thank goodness.)

Wow, that was quite the parenthetical digression.

Anyway, I think my lack of the doldrums (until now) may have something to do with having two major concert preparations back-to-back.  Messiah in December and this last one.  Kept my mind off all the cold and the snow and the lack of daylight.

But I'm ready for spring now.

Unfortunately, spring isn't coming anytime soon.  When I drove past the baseball fields today and saw that the chain link fences were only a foot high, I realized that I have a good while left to enjoy the snow.  Or suffer through the snow.  Or endure the snow.  But I might as well try to enjoy it.

I tell you though, I'd enjoy it all much more if it were only 70 degrees out at the same time!

  3. Snow in December is heavenly. At the end of February, it's pretty much from the other place. Good luck!

  5. I hear you there. Just yesterday (when it started to snow again) I began the longing for spring. Luckily for me, it may be here fairly soon. I will pray for your sanity in your winter wonderland... and stock up on the cocoa powder so you can make your own (sugar free-ish) hot cocoa. Good luck!

  6. I think I shall knock on your door when I come up in April - that's only six weeks or so away!

    Hang in there!!

  7. My secret to learning to love winter (and hoping it lasts just a little bit longer)? Learn to ski or snowshoe! I'm lamenting the fact that I haven't skied enough this year, and hoping winter lasts just a bit longer.

  8. I felt the same way last winter and the winter before that and the winter before that...this winter, we have NO snow on the ground. I don't miss it at all, but it feels weird. But, no spring-like weather yet either, not really. Yesterday morning we woke up to an inch on the ground, but gladly it was gone by lunchtime. We could STILL get huge snowfall thru March, AND if we don't, we will be living through a serious drought this summer. So, I guess I am realizing as I am writing, to just appreciate the weather, whatever it is, just as it comes. Not a heck of a lot we can do about it anyway, right?

  9. Being new to snow weather, I didn't get sick of the snow at all last year. But, this year, I'm ready for the snow to be over... and it's been a light year! I'm so excited to get out and enjoy nature with my kids, but feel guilty taking them out in 30-degree weather - even if they are bundled up in jackets. I'm sure that's something I'm going to have to get over if we're here to stay.

  10. I second the snowshoe suggestion. I love it, and haven't gone this year. We haven't had enough snow. Boo hoo hoo, right?

It seems that many of us are feeling the same way right about now. I know I've been feeling blah for much of the winter. Hang in there. Spring WILL come. It always does.

  12. You've read how I feel about February. I'm glad it's almost over. Sigh.

Good luck enjoying the snow. Let me know how that goes. I need some ideas.

  14. Maybe you should get a sad lamp. You could put it by your computer. It'd be a double whammy -- talking to me AND the sad lamp. :)

  16. YEP...enough winter! Like you though, the busier I am, the less blah I feel. Think sunshine!

  17. Our winters here are so mild, they have me wishing I could swap them for our blazing summers.

Enjoy the snow and cold while it lasts. Just another reason for hot cocoa and cuddling, yes?
