Meet Catty Hansen

This is Chloe's pet caterpillar (tent worm, actually). She found him at school and Joel helped her to make him a comfortable home in a Tupperware container.

His name is Catty Hansen.

Meet Catty Hansen

She dotes on this thing like you wouldn't believe. She pets him and talks to him. She carries him around way too much for my comfort.  She treats him like her baby.

She suffocates him, in fact.  I'm a little worried she's going to kill him.

But she insists that he loves all the attention.  Because he loves her a lot.

Which is, of course, true.

Because how could you not love Chloe?

  1. Too cute.

I remember when I was around 7 or 8. I wanted pets SO badly, but my parents didn't allow me to have any. Desperate, I collected some rolly pollies and placed them in a plastic tupperware cup. They were to be my pets. Unfortunately, I didn't put anything from their environment in the cup with them and placed them in the garage for safe keeping. They were dead the next morning.

  4. Very cute! Here's hoping for a long life for Catty! (My brother & I never had much luck with keeping insect/pets alive.)

  5. I think girls that love creepy crawlies totally rock!

I, on the other hand, do not rock.

  6. Oh, Lara. I think your Chloe and my Sloane would be fast friends. In fact, I'm sure of it. Sloane regularly "rescues" frogs from our yard, fireflies and caterpillars from their homes and brings them in. She makes such careful little nests for them, lugs them around, names her pets and talks to them. Oh, yes, Chloe and Sloane are surely kindred spirits. I bet their mothers are, too.

  7. Those HansEns are the worst! Always so catty! I am so glad I am not one of those HansEns because who knows maybe I would be catty as well! ;-) On a more serious note, I had a pet catepillar when I was 6, and when it died I adopted a green grasshopper about the three inches long my mother was SO (sarcastic tone) happy about, then came the fish, hamster, and finally dog. So it looks like you will soon be in the market for some additional pet houses and such-goodluck!

  9. That's so funny McKenna does the same thing with a worm. Don't tell her that I have changed the worm four times because she has loved it to much. The things we do for Love.

  10. I haven't seen tent caterpillars since I was a kid. We had them by the thousands in the trees in our back yard. They must have thought it was a good place for camping!

Thanks for visiting my blog. Stop by anytime!!

  12. LOL, so awesome!

I caught a preying mantis for my kids once. A rather huge one actually. Since I wouldn't let him out of the jar, they thought it would be more fun to let him go.

    Thank heavens. :D
