The Red Kitchen
(finally!)

So I'm finally showing you my kitchen, which was the first room we ever painted in this house!  It's been pretty much a year, since I remember we painted it while listening to the first BYU game of the season last year.

Here is what it looked like when we first moved in.  I'm sure many of you are going to say, but it's so lovely!   Why would you ever want to get rid of that beautiful blue kitchen?  But, here's the deal.  I don't do blue.  I can't feel happy in a blue room.  I've never been able to, and never will.  So it really did have to go, or I wouldn't want to ever go in my kitchen!

And here it is now!  I've gradually added things for the walls here and there, and I really love my kitchen.  I will eventually replace the countertops (or maybe even paint them...I've seen people do cool things with painting the laminate).  I love the red, and it makes me want to be in the kitchen.  So that's what matters.

Also, you can get a glimpse of my dining room, and what I've done to the walls....pictures will come soon enough.

Or maybe next year.  :)

  4. WOW!!! Your kitchen totally transformed!!! I love the chalk menu rooster/chicken thing - how cute is that! And I might have to copy that phrase for our kitchen table, too. Good job - that's a lot of work and it is so pretty!

  9. I think blue belongs in bedrooms. Kitchens need to be more lively, more vibrant. I love the red. And love your curtains too.

  10. We are so alike! I don't do blue. I only do warm colors (fall colors) not cool colors. We're in the middle of painting our family room red! I love your new kitchen! You did an awesome job.

  11. I do love the blue. I'm a blue type pf girl. In fact, when we moved into our house, my husband said, no more blue!! LOL! Even though he won't let me paint the rooms, just decorate them.

But the red is awesome! It really does look good!

    b) Your kitchen is larger than ours
    c) I really thought you had an "overstuffed" vinyl cling on your wall. Fo. real. I then figured it out. :)

  16. I actually like it both ways. Both are pretty and evoke entirely different emotions. I think I like the red better, though. Very striking!

  17. I am totally a blue person- we paint our bedroom blue, but our front room in NC was that color red and I loved it. I think I could handle any color, as long as it means it isn't white.

  18. It's nice in the blue but really wonderful in the red!
I need to paint my kitchen and when I ever get the colour picked out the saying going above the window will be
...then in the evening when the supper things were done, we'd sit 'round about the table and have the mostest fun!

  23. Funny--I was thinking the SAGE GREEN looked nice (probably the lighting).

But the red rocks. And it's definitely more YOU. Congrats!

  24. What a cheery kitchen! I love the blue, too, but I can see what a snooze it was compared to the red.

  25. When I first saw the blue (thought I agree with Annette that it looks a bit more sagey, with hints of blue) it is a shade that I love so much, and I'm not the biggest fan of red, so I almost didn't scroll down, but I'm glad I did. Your red is lovely! Dramatic but not too OTT. I'm glad you have a place you can enjoy being. :)

  31. If my spopuse said " I want to move to live in the rain Forest for a year!" I would say, you have to read Robin Easton's book before we decide and if you want to go after reading Naked in Eden, Then let's go!

    Thanks Larry
