The Thing About a Vacation is You Need Another One After You've Traveled and Unpacked

Docked at Costa Maya

The cruise was amazing.  Being with family was amazing.  Seeing new parts of the world was amazing.  Being in the sunshine was amazing.

However, I'm still recovering from the travel home and am still trying to unpack. After more than 24 hours of shuttles, planes, airports and driving we made it home late Monday morning.  I'm totally exhausted.  Also, please don't look at my living room anytime soon.  It has pretty much thrown up on itself, despite the 8 loads of laundry I've already done and mostly folded and put away.

In other news, it snowed 36 inches during the 10 days we were gone.  That's 3 freaking feet, folks.  And it's a good thing we have some AMAZING neighbors who thought to keep our driveway and front steps clear, or I don't know what we would have done when we got home.  Turned around and driven back to the Caribbean, maybe.

While Sophia was disappointed to hear we were going back to our "old" home and wouldn't be taking up permanent residence aboard the Liberty of the Seas, I am glad to be home.  Give me a few days and I might even find some time to share some of the 1,000+ photos I took in between coordinating my lesson schedules for this semester and working on the preschool duties that I so egregiously ignored during the last month or so.

Happy Tuesday (night)!

  2. When Paul and I got engaged, we flew to Sun Valley for "spring" break. We didn't think to ask anyone to plow for us (we'd only lived in the house a year or so) since it was so "late" in the winter.

    Silly us.

How did we get back into our house? With the snowshoes we had brought to Sun Valley! We later heard that some of our "friends" drove by our house and laughed! I think the house was locked up tight, or I'm sure someone would have got the snow blower out.

  5. I am glad you made it home safe. I look forward to hearing all about your cruise. I have never been on a cruise before and am thinking its high time I give it a try. Maybe in the next year or two. Hope you can get caught up on your rest and things you need to to.

  6. What a tiny little canoe you were on! Hope you can get everything back in order without too much of the feeling you'll never catch up. I hate the "I'm never gonna catch up" feeling.

    Looking forward to pics!!

  7. You missed three feet of snow...wow. Why doesn't everyone in your part of Michigan just use sled dogs?

  9. Coming home is always a nightmare. One of these days I'm gonna remember how hard it is---and schedule my work vacation a little longer than the real vacation to I have time to come home and recover.

    Looking forward to pictures:)

  11. Laura- We are getting ready to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise with our kids and I would LOVE to hear about your experience! We are kind of nervous about the kid aspect of it but royal is suppose to have amazing things for the kids.
I guess I will have to check back to see where you went :)

  12. After our cruise in 2008, I totally rebelled when we got home. Cruise life was so fun and regular life was so sad. I mourned for months. You seem to be doing incredibly well. :)

But, it does stink to come home.
