Chicago at Night

Chicago Evening

This is what we saw when we exited The American Girl Place after eating dinner there.

Sights like this are my favorite thing about big cities.

Crazy weekend over here, leading up to our very last week of summer. I just died a little bit inside, typing that. I am so not ready for fall, and yet my yard already needs a good raking and the air is feeling distinctly autumnal. As much as I love autumn, I have learned real good that winter comes all too quickly afterward, and I don't know if I can take the snow cold dreariness winter just yet.

Hopefully we'll get in a beach day or two before September 6.

Have a lovely weekend!

  1. Ok, mock me. But I get nervous in big cities. I guess kind of clausterphobic from teh big buildings.
But the other part of me really loves it. The people, mostly -- th epeople watching (aka, San Fran -- oh man, GOOD people watching there)

  2. Nice shot. We're just experience our first bout of uncomfortably hot weather here. Seriously, usually I sweat through half the summer but this week is the first time I've felt sticky all day. I am very grateful for this and hope that fall comes soon so we can get back to the cooler temperatures and RAIN that we've (I've) been enjoying for most of the summer. :)

  3. I love visiting cities. WOuldn't love living in one, but I do love them on a short term basis. Especially at night. :)

It's starting to feel a little fall-ish here. It will be warm for a while yet, but the nights are cooling off and the kids are thinking about needing a light jacket in the early morning on the way to school. It makes me excited though. I love the fall. We don't have winters like you do though... we might get snow a few times, but nothing major. That has to make it easier, yes?

  4. That is a beautiful photo. I miss being closer to big cities - or even semi-close!

Have a lovely last week of summer!

  5. I've been to Chicago once. And I loved it. The hustle and bustle was almost as much fun as NYC. Great shot

  6. Ooooh! Blue Hour- good catch on that one. I am so excited you got to go to American Girl Place. Took my ladies to the small one in Denver back in the Spring and it was so much fun!

  7. Lara, we need to get you outside in the winter involved in some activities so you'll like it more. Cross country skiing, perhaps? I think you'd like it....
