Happy Mother's Day!
We got back from our A-MAZ-ING trip to the Big Apple yesterday, and while I'm exhausted, it's been a wonderful Mother's Day.
Number one, because my own Mama is here (we flew her out to watch the kids while we were gone) and I don't think I've spent a Mother's Day with her in about ten years. So that's been nice. And, also, I don't think I've taken a picture with just the two of us since my brother's wedding 5 years ago! And that one turned out blurry, so it's nice to have this photo.
Number two, because I have great kids who (with the help of Grandma and Grandpa) spoiled me rotten this Mother's Day. I got new shoes, new PJs, new shampoo, and lots of lovely cards and notes, which are always my favorites.
Number three, because The Maestro spoiled me with my favorite dinner of pasta alfredo, gluten-free style. He only makes it once or twice a year, usually for Mother's Day and/or my birthday. It's kind of labor intensive.
Number four, it was a beautiful sunny day today, and the snow is mostly GONE! When we flew out last week there was still plenty of the white stuff, but it was nice to come home to almost none of it. Of course, now we have mud to deal with, which means little Puccini has to have several baths a day, but I will not complain because there is no snow.
Being a mom is certainly one of the hardest things I have ever done, but also the most rewarding and the most wonderful. I'm thankful to my own mother for being such an amazing example to me of what a mother should be. All my life I have loved to see her smile at me when she is happy because she has the most beautiful smile on earth. And she certainly smiled through all the hard times as well as the happy times, and I appreciate that in her. It's something I really need to work on as the mother to my own children--smiling more!
I hope all of you who are mothers have also had a wonderful day. You are all deserving of the honor. I watch so many of you and learn so much about motherhood from you. Thank you!
Happy Mother's Day!
