Recital update and awards!

So, thanks for all your suggestions for my recital.

Here's the low down:

We decided to nix the Broadway set altogether, because the recital is coming up super fast and we are both pretty darn busy. We had hoped it would work out, but since that's the set that wasn't really put together we just decided to leave it off for now. I loved your duet suggestions, and we are hoping to be able to learn some of them for something else, someday.

Instead, we added a little set to give us a break. We're going to have our accompanist play a Beethoven sonata, and then Jackie's (my duet friend) daughter is going to do a violin piece, something by Vaughn Williams.

As for the set titles, we are using the following:

Sacred Set-How can I keep from Praising God?

John Duke Set-How can I keep from loving? (Steffani wins!!!!)

Folk song set-Still untitled! Help! I did realize that most of the songs have to do with going/leaving home.

Opera set-How can I keep off the stage? (Alyson wins!!!!)

The set with piano and violin-Still untitled. Help!

I know this is such a fascinating topic for you to read about, but I am thankful for all of your ideas. If you have more, please share. Mailed prizes still available. Speaking of which, Steffani and Aly, since you're both scrapbookers, tell me your favorite color and I'll get a little something in the mail for you. Also, I don't think I have your address, Steffani, what with all your world traveling this summer.

Thanks all!

  1. My creativity has fizzled..... **sigh**

  2. Lara, half the time I can't keep track of my own address! I have driven over 7700 miles in the last 10 weeks with two little girls in tow. Anyway, what with having girls and all I really love pinks and browns. Right now I'm back in Mesa and my address is 1748 E. Cortez Dr. Gilbert, AZ 85234. I've been trying to think of something to do with piano and violin strings...if I come up with anything I'll let you know. The first thing that popped into my head for the other one though was "How can I keep away from here?" or just "How can I keep away?" Good luck hun!

  3. Really? I can't help my ears from bleeding for the opera didn't win-out.
    Huh? :)
Obviously, I am of no help.
Currently, mine would be titled "I can't keep from checking mortgage rates" :)

  4. Oh sure, just nix the whole Broadway segment-I want something in the mail.

  5. So when is this recital? Not that I am very good at these kinda things but an idea for folk song- I can't help but leave home, I can't help but not stay home.

  6. Lara, laying in bed tonight (I kid you not that is when I do ALL my thinking) the random thought popped into my head of your piano/violin set. I kinda thought, "How can I keep from playing music?" would sound good with the whole "How can I keep from singing" theme. Just a thought I wanted to share before I forgot it, so I got out of bed...just for you. Good luck with all your beginning craziness. The pictures on your new post are gorgeous, by the way!

  7. dang it, Steffani got my thought, but for the folk, how about "how long can I keep from straying"?
