Go! Fight! Win!

Friday night was the culmination of Bria's experience as a junior cheerleader. All 150 some odd little girls got to cheer with the High School Cheerleaders during the first quarter of the football game. I was so focused on watching Bria and trying to get a good picture of her, that I didn't even notice when our team scored for the first time! By the end of the quarter we were up 22 to 0. I'm sure it was because of all the extra cheerleaders. The louder they cheer, the better the team does, you know. That's why we even have them in the first place.

We sat in the grass in front of the bleachers so we could get the best shots of Bria through the fence. Sophie enjoyed climbing it more than she liked watching any of the goings on.

I liked this picture of Chloe and Joel (who was probably paying more attention to the football game than he was the least he was aware of the score, anyway).
Chloe was adamantly against doing the cheer clinic herself, but she sure enjoyed watching them and trying out some of the moves from the safety of the fence.
Bria looked like she was utterly bored the whole time. She really enjoyed herself during the clinics, and could often be seen smiling and laughing while cheering and dancing. When it came to performance time at the big game, though, I don't think I ever saw the corners of her lips turn up once.

I know she wasn't bored, though. This is Bria we're talking about. Performing in front of the yelling crowd wasn't easy for her, and she almost didn't do it. I'm glad she did, though. Every time she does something like this, it gets a little bit easier the next time.
My favorite picture. Coming down from the jump.
We all had a lot of fun (except for maybe Bria, but I think she enjoyed herself a tiny bit, crowd and all). I miss going to football games. It is one of my favorite parts of the autumn season. It felt good, even though we left after the first quarter, and even though it doesn't exactly compare to a BYU football game.

Sure hope we won without all the little cheerleaders!

  1. You got some great pictures!

  2. You know... you can still GO to football games. Perhaps Joel would like to be the marching band director. :)

  3. Oh my goodness, Lara, she looks like you there! She has your shape.( I'm so glad I can say that and Joel loves you so much he will totally agree. Boy does it bring back memories of you performing as a dancer, tap, ballet or whatever! WOW! Mom

  4. That's a huge step for our Bria! Goooooooooo Bria!

  5. Great pictures. It is hard to be somewhere with everything going on and catch great pictures like those, but I guess you are a pro at it.

  6. It's interesting, isn't it, how different our children are. My 3rd child, Bethany, is a lot like Bria. Doesn't like crowds, being in front of people, etc. My first LOVES the limelight.

Go, Bria, for doing such a great job, even though it was hard!

  7. How cute! Way to go Bria!!!
