However, since I have not taken many pictures of interest this week (other than a newborn photo shoot, which I will link up soon enough), I give you the desecrated figurines.

The one with the rose, named "Love," was given to me by the Bishop when I was released from my calling as Relief Society President. Bria was enthralled with her at the time. She would get a chair and sit and stare at her for what seemed like hours on end. One day she came to me and said, "I figured out what's wrong with Love!" I wasn't really sure what she meant, but she finally got me to understand she was talking about the figurine.
"What's wrong with her?" I asked.
"She doesn't have a face!" Bria exclaimed.
I told her that's how she should be, and (erroneously, obviously) thought that was that. Soon after that conversation, my mom gave me the patriotic one, and before I could blink they were both bestowed with faces.
You'll be happy to know that the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser took most of the black off, and only discolored them a little. I can tell, but perhaps those who don't know what happened wouldn't notice. At least I hope that's the case.
As an outsider looking in, that is one of the most precious pictures ever. As a mother, I can see how totally frustrating and maddening that would have been. I wish I could say I would have left them that way, but in reality, I wouldn' have. (and my kids butt would have definitely been spanked) :(
ReplyDeleteYou were a good RS president that is for sure. I am just glad to hear that other peoples children do things like this to them. That I am not the only one that finds her children doing something that makes you so upset.
ReplyDeleteMothers of children under 5 should not have sharpies.
ReplyDeleteI am going to throw all mine away right now. :)
OH my gosh -- I would SCREAM! I'm glad the Magic Eraser did a good job.
ReplyDeleteYou have to admit they do look better with a face! heehee
ReplyDeleteI'm with Queendeni - I wish she'd have given mine a face! I thought about giving it a face myself. I never did get those things...I keep one of them around because a friend gave it to me, but aside from that I don't really get those faceless things.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, they sort of freak me out.
ReplyDeleteThose magic erasers are, er, magic! Love em! Love your pic, too!
ReplyDeleteI would have freaked over that !
ReplyDeleteI like those figurines and to deface them would have meant trouble and being grounded for the culprit. Glad you were able to recover almost all their original look.
I love my willow tree figurines, and the thought of my kids doing that makes me shudder, but that said, I think it's hilarious that she felt the need to finish them off! She was probably very proud of herself! What a cute story (in a maddening kind of way). Good thing you were able to get the marker off afterward!
ReplyDeleteThey give me a smile and a chuckle. How funny! Looks like you have a great gift to give her for her wedding--buy a whole nativity and put faces on yourself!
ReplyDeleteAnother triumph for those Mr. Clean Erasers!
ReplyDeleteI rather like the faces, lol! But I'm glad the Magic Eraser rose to the occasion and restored most of their "anonimity".
ReplyDeleteI agree with Crystal, you were an awesome RS President.
She actually did a pretty good job. But yay for the Magic Eraser!
ReplyDeleteOh man!! Of all the things she'd grab, it would be a sharpie. I'm glad it came off. I've kind of decided that I'm just not going to have anything nice until my kids are older. That way I won't be devastated when they destroy it.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny that she drew on their faces! Emmy is sitting on my lap right now and when she saw the picture, she said "Scary!" I'm still laughing about it!
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I can't stop laughing. I mean it is sort of strange that they don't have faces.
ReplyDeleteToo funny.
I'm glad you kept the photos--good blackmail material later on. Reminds me to keep my sharpies up for a couple more years, until my youngest isn't quite so helpful :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I can't even believe what a small world it is! Tony always tells the story of them getting mugged by gypsies- crazy! He said to tell your hubby "hi" Did you guys meet on your mission? Anyway, it's just so funny-do you guys ever go to any of the reunions?
ReplyDeleteI guess it makes sense, they don't have faces after all! And I think you deserve a lot more for being a Relief Society President! :)
ReplyDeleteThis actually is one of the sweetest things I have seen in a long time. Really. So girly.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great story. I love Mr. Clean Eraser!!
ReplyDeleteThis cracks me up. The patriotic one's face looks pretty good, actually!
ReplyDeleteI never got a gift when I was a released from being Prez of an organization in church...that was one thoughtful Bishop !
