Where the Love Light Gleams

I'll Be Home For Christmas

The Eleventh Day of Christmas

Home.  The best place to be on Christmas, whatever home means for you.

Like many people, we have a Christmas PJ tradition on Christmas Eve.  The kids always get new ones, occasionally I do and even more occasionally Joel does.  This wasn't Joel's year, according to his own needs and desire.

But the girls and I just opened some fun pink and purple polka-dotted jammies.

And, as soon as they've eaten a little bit (we totally forgot about dinner today)(decided not to do the fancy Christmas Eve dinner), we'll be gathering up next to the Christmas tree to read the Christmas Story from the Bible and then to listen to Amahl and the Night Visitors.  I look forward to it all year long.

After that, we'll get ourselves ready for a long winters' nap, dream of some sugarplums and wake up hoping that St. Nicholas has been here.

What are your Christmas Eve plans?

  1. Mine WAS to go to a party, but C is sick with a fever.
I had a crappy day at work too, so this is just the crowning finish. And,you'll be shocked to know that Drew didn't clean the entire house while I was gone.
    True story.

  2. cute jammies... I'm hoping to get us some next year... we're just hanging out watching movies with tissues and a few snacks... everyone is sick :( poor kids... but they're still excited for Santa.

  3. Those are so fun! Merry Christmas!

  4. What great jammies! What an even cuter picture! I hope you all have lots of sugary dreams and lots of gifts under the tree tomorrow.

We had our own jammie night too and read from the bible also. It's wonderful to read about the Savior's birth, in our own way welcoming Him into the world and our hearts.

  5. OH I just love this picture of you girls! Can't wait to see you in a week!!

  6. Oh, I've just caught up on all of these wonderful Christmas posts! I have not been blogging or reading blogs or internet really for over a week, but I had to check in on my favorite bunch.

Love you all so much and wish we were together for Christmas-Your house looks so festive and beautiful and I can only imagine the squeals of delight this morning.

Thinking of ALL of you today!
    Merry Christmas!

    Love, all of us!

  7. This is a really cute picture of you and your girls. I love the PJ's. Very festive and fun! We open PJ's Christmas Eve and watch Christmas Movies, and read the Christmas Story from the Bible too. We had a nice Christmas and hopefull you did also.

  8. Well, I didn't get here in time for Christmas, but I wanted to stop by and wish you the merriest of Christmas seasons. I hope the day itself was wonderful and I hope that the coming week is full of joy. May you find laughter with friends, affection and joy with family, short return lines, and lots of great deals during after-school shopping. Merry, happy, joyous New year!! Much love, Relyn

  9. We always fondue on Christmas Eve. Then we read the Christmas story from the New Testament, followed by "The Night Before Christmas", followed by "Christmas Comes to Little House" by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I always toss that one in - where the kids are so excited to get a tin cup, a candy cane, a cookie, and a penny - to prime the 'be grateful for whatever turns up under the tree' pump!

That picture is darling! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

  10. What a beautiful bunch of ladies here, I almost mistook you for one of your daughters!

Hope you're having a lovely Christmas break, enjoying the light and love of the season!!
