This month’s visiting teaching message is: Divine Attributes of Jesus Christ—Meek and Humble. In a world where these two qualities are seen as some sort of a weakness, I really appreciated the quote selected in the lesson. Especially as women, we are told we have to be more bold and forceful and authoritative in order to be taken seriously. That’s just silly. Meekness and humility do have a place in our world, and Christ is the greatest example of these two attributes.
It reminds me of one of my favorite passages in the Doctrine & Covenants:
“No power or influence can or ought to be maintained by virtue of the priesthood, only by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness and meekness, and by love unfeigned;
By kindness, and pure knowledge, which shall greatly enlarge the soul without hypocrisy, and without guile.”
I very much enjoyed the quote in the lesson by Elder Soares of the Seventy, so that is what I used on this month’s printable.
